Important Documentation
Identification Requirements
At Alpha Bank London, we are, like all UK banks, required to comply with anti-money laundering regulations. This means we must establish and occasionally verify the identity of our clients — both when opening new accounts and throughout their Alpha Bank London journey.
This guide outlines the identification requirements for personal customers.
While we typically onboard individuals who are UK, EEA, or Swiss nationals, we may also consider applicants from outside these regions.
As a minimum, we need:
Proof of Identity
This can be the following:
- Valid passport
- Photo-card driving licence
- National Identification Card
Please Note: ‘Valid’ means in date, undamaged, clear and readable.
Proof of address
One of the following original or certified documents, dated within the last 3 months:
- Utility bill
- Bank statement
Please note: PO Box addresses, mobile phone bills, and printed online banking statements are not accepted.
Certification of Documents
All identification and address documents must be:
- Certified by a Solicitor, Bank Official, Notary, or Professional Body
- Signed and dated by the certifier, who must be independent of the applicant
- Clearly marked as a “true copy of the original”
- Include the certifier’s printed name, professional capacity, and, where applicable, official stamp
Documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation.
Please be aware that existing customers opening additional accounts may still be asked to provide fresh documentation.
