Michael joined the Board of Alpha Bank London in 2023, where he serves with distinction as an Independent Non-Executive Director. He chairs both the Audit Committee and the Risk and Compliance Committee, and contributes thoughtfully as a member of the Remuneration Committee.
His career is marked by a rare blend of entrepreneurial spirit and financial leadership. As CFO and Executive Director of Metro Bank Plc from its inception in 2009 through to 2018, Michael played a central role in guiding the bank from start-up to FTSE listing—a journey that speaks volumes of his strategic vision and operational expertise.
Prior to Metro Bank, he held senior roles at Capital One Europe, including CFO UK, CFO Europe, and CRO Europe. His earlier career includes CFO positions at Royal Trust Bank and Gentra Limited (which he co-founded), as well as key roles at Industrial Bank of Japan (London Branch), Barclaycard, and more.
Today, Michael continues to lend his expertise across sectors. He is a Non-Executive Director at Admiral Group PLC, where he serves on the Audit, Remuneration, and Investment Committees. He also chairs Admiral Financial Services Limited and serves as Director and Trustee of the Rose Theatre Trust, where he leads the Finance and Risk Committee—an elegant intersection of finance and the arts.
Michael is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and holds a BA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of York. His career reflects a deep intellect, a steady hand, and a genuine appreciation for both numbers and narrative.
